Help clear stormwater drains before it rains

There’s no shortage of leaves on the ground, and some of them will make their way onto and into catch basins – also known as stormwater drains, which are located in the road. Catch basins give rainwater somewhere to drain, preventing water ponding and flooding on roads. But this process doesn’t work if the drains are blocked or covered by yard waste!

If you live close to a catch basin, you’re encouraged to help clear it of leaves and other debris, if it’s safe to do so – especially before or during heavy rainfall. If you see sewer or street flooding, report it to Service Vaughan at 905-832-2281 or service@vaughan.ca.
