Take an online survey: deadline extended until June 10

Want to provide input on the new elements and amenities coming to Doctors McLean District Park? Good news: you can still have a say! The deadline to complete our online survey has been extended until Monday, June 10.

Public feedback collected so far has helped us identify your priorities and vision for the park’s redevelopment. Now we’re in the design phase and are once again asking for your input on these new amenities.

Have your say by taking a survey!

As part of the online survey, you can review the draft design concept, review images of options for elements being redeveloped or added and share your input. It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and is available at vaughan.ca/DoctorsMcLean until Monday, June 10.

Why are we improving Doctors McLean District Park?

Doctors McLean District Park, located at 8100 Islington Ave., is a large, secluded and well-used park in Ward 2 next to the Humber River. It’s roughly 15.5 hectares (38.3 acres) in size and is surrounded by forest. It currently contains a playground, a large-covered pavilion and smaller shade structure that can be booked for picnics and events, and a parking lot that can accommodate 100 vehicles.

By the summer of 2026, the City of Vaughan will connect a key link in the Humber Trail – closing the gap between Clarence Street and both Islington Avenue and Woodbridge Avenue – through the construction of a new bridge and pathways in the park.

But there’s more in the works! We’re taking this opportunity to enhance other park elements, including replacing the playground, adding a splashpad, building a new shade structure, adding educational/interpretive signage, updating park trails and pathways, adding seating and viewpoints, and increasing naturalization. Work is anticipated to begin in 2025.

Doctors McLean District Park was identified for redevelopment in the Parks Redevelopment Strategy (PDF) and will be designed in accordance with the standards outlined in the City’s Active Together Master Plan. These improvements are being partially funded by the Province of Ontario, as part of the Humber Trail Study, approved by Vaughan Council in 2021.
