Learn more about our plans!
The City of Vaughan is hosting a second Open House on Thursday, June 20 at the Pierre Berton Heritage Centre (10418 Islington Ave.). Here are some frequently asked questions about the project:
Why is Kleinburg Village being improved?
The Kleinburg Village corridor and the surrounding area have rapidly changed in the last decade with high-density development, including residential and mixed-use buildings, resulting in a larger urbanized area. The City is undertaking the Kleinburg Village Improvements Project to address this growth and ensure municipal infrastructure can continue to support the community for years to come. The project area extends along Islington Avenue from Major Mackenzie Drive to Highway 27, along Nashville Road from Highway 27 to Islington Avenue, and along Stegman’s Mill Road from Islington Avenue to Teston Road.
What work is being done now?
As part of this project, we’re completing important underground infrastructure improvements, such as watermain replacements and road rehabilitation. We will also be adding cycling facilities, more parking areas, roadway and pedestrian lighting, streetscaping and landscape features, and more.
Will businesses stay open during construction?
Yes! Kleinburg Village remains open for business. You are encouraged to continue to support local stores, restaurants and organizations throughout construction. Alternate temporary parking will be made available in the area (just north of the Village) when the work begins. The City’s Vaughan Business and Entrepreneurship Centre has developed an online resource for businesses impacted – explore it at vaughanbusiness.ca/ConstructionSupport.
