Fire Prevention Week Open House

In an emergency, every second counts – so it’s important to be prepared! To learn more about fire safety, bring your family to an open house hosted by Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.)!

Held in recognition of Fire Prevention Week, participants will enjoy family-friendly entertainment, a barbecue, photobooth and interactive fire safety stations. There will also be a fire hose target practice, firetruck tours and more.

Fire Prevention Week is recognized each year during the week of Oct. 9 by the National Fire Prevention Association. It is also proclaimed by the City of Vaughan from Oct. 6 to 12, 2024.

Fire departments across North America observe Fire Prevention Week to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire in 1871 and the devastation it caused. This year’s theme is ‘Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!’ Working smoke alarms save lives, and it’s important for everyone in your home to know the proper signs and signals.
