Register for a fun-filled spring with Vaughan!

According to the Wiarton Willie groundhog, spring is almost here, and the City of Vaughan is ready with many exciting ways to stay active and have fun! Registration is now open for our spring recreation programs. 

 

Take a look at the Spring Recreation eGuide and sign up for your favourites today. Programming begins on Saturday, March 23 at all community centres and the Vaughan Studios & Event Space. 

 

Highlights for the season include:

 

  • Family (parent and child): playdates, fitness classes, music, mindfulness, arts and crafts and sports
  • Preschool: arts and crafts, dance, karate, skating and ball hockey, STEM and Vaughan Playschool kindergarten readiness series (math, reading, writing, science, French, Hebrew and Italian)
  • Children: drawing, painting, the art of cursive writing, circuit training, karate, skating, STEM, French, cooking/baking, nature adventures and in-person and virtual Roblox game design  
  • Youth: weight training, cooking, guitar, money management, email etiquette and computer programming
  • Adult: ballroom, belly and Bollywood dancing, guitar, group personal training, badminton, squash, archery, painting, Zumba, and ball hockey, slo-pitch and volleyball leagues
  • Older Adult: chair fitness, line dancing, pickleball, arthritis and osteoporosis fitness, tai chi, qigong and Zumba
  • Inclusion: social and life skills, dance, gymnastics, sports, cooking, private music and education lessons and a social club for adults living with Down syndrome 

 

The City is also offering learn-to-skate lessons (only at Al Palladini Community Centre for the spring session) for all ages, PA Day programs and March Break camps, and spring workshops, which include fitness and nutrition workshops, Easter, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Passover and Earth Day crafting sessions, home safety and archeological activities and a hands-on intro-to-gardening workshop for toddlers. There are also cooking and educational classes being offered at the Vaughan Studios & Event Space, and City Playhouse Academy musical theatre classes, featuring an end-of-session stage production.

Swim lessons and aquatic leadership programs

Make a splash this season! Registration for spring swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses opens at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27 and programs start on Saturday, March 23 at all community centre pools, except for the pool at Garnet A. Williams Community Centre, which remains closed due to ongoing renovations. 

 

Learn-to-swim programming starts for ages four months old for parents with tots and runs up to levels specifically designed for adult non-swimmers. Training and certification in aquatic leadership courses for ages 13 years and older are aimed at preparing youth for employment as a swim instructor or lifeguard.
