Submit your Minor Variance and Consent applications online

The City of Vaughan’s website is your one-stop-shop for City services, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And that includes the ability to submit Minor Variance and Consent applications to the Committee of Adjustment through Service Vaughan!

Council appoints the Committee of Adjustment to adjudicate applications for Minor Variance and Consent under the Planning Act.

If you require relief from the City’s Zoning By-law 001-2021 for development on your property, you may submit a Minor Variance application to the City.

A Consent application is required if you wish to:

  • sever a lot/adjust a lot boundary
  • establish a long-term easement (more than 21 years)
  • discharge mortgage over a portion of land
  • secure a long-term lease (more than 21 years)
  • obtain validation of title to address a contravention of the Planning Act

To submit a Minor Variance or Consent application, visit vaughan.ca/ServiceVaughan.

Through the City’s online self-service portal, you can also apply for a job; register for recreation programs; report missed waste collection; report road maintenance, including potholes; pay parking tickets; apply for building/engineering permits; report litter/graffiti; request tree pruning and shrub maintenance; request park or splashpad maintenance, buy a new blue box and green bin and so much more.

Agents in the City’s contact centre are standing by to address your inquiries. Call 905-832-2281 or email service@vaughan.ca for assistance. Call centre hours are on Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with after-hour service available for municipal emergencies.
