Mark your calendars for Friday, July 1, which no doubt will be another unforgettable Canada Day event. This year’s headline performer is Juno Award winner for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, Shawn Desman. Tyler Shaw, Juno Award nominee for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, will also take the stage

The Vaughan Celebrates Canada Day event is among the most well-known and respected celebrations in the province. This year, the event was recognized as one of the top 100 events in the province by Festivals and Events Ontario. Vaughan is a family oriented community, and events like this are an important way to bring people together, and celebrate the long and proud history of Canada. The event is free and attracts thousands of people each year from across the GTA.

The City’s annual flagship celebration takes place at Mackenzie Glen District Park, 220 Cranston Park Ave., from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. This year’s exciting entertainment lineup features DIA, The Samba Squad and The Funk Frequency. Presented by TD and event sponsors CN, TransCanada and Tim Hortons, the event includes a kids’ zone with inflatables, face painting and fun activities and food available for purchase.

While there is no public parking at the site, free shuttle bus service from Vaughan City Hall and St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School, 1 Joan of Arc Ave., will be offered between 2:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. As well, free parking will be available at Mackenzie Glen Public School, 575 Melville Ave., and Holy Jubilee Catholic Elementary School, 400 St. Joan of Arc Ave., and is within walking distance of the event.
