Join us for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Sports Village on Feb. 6

There is nothing quite like skating on an outdoor rink with family and friends on a winter day. In addition to Vaughan’s four outdoor rinks, the City has built a new skating trail at Sports Village (2600 Rutherford Rd.) that is now ready for everyone to enjoy. The project was granted funding through the Government of Canada’s Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) and is among five applications the City was awarded in 2022.

To celebrate the opening of this exciting new winter destination, Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m., weather permitting. Free hot chocolate will be available following the official remarks.

The City is committed to providing recreational opportunities and amenities for residents, and this new outdoor skating trail amenity – which will be free to use – will provide another option for people to stay active throughout the winter.
