What’s open and closed in Vaughan over the holidays
With the holiday season quickly approaching, the City of
Vaughan is reminding residents about facility closures, alternate hours and
changes in programming from Friday, Dec. 23, 2022 to Monday, Jan. 2, 2023.
Municipal facilities
Most
facilities – including Vaughan City Hall – will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 24
to Monday, Jan. 2, reopening on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Essential services, such as
fire and emergency response and by-law and enforcement services, will continue
uninterrupted. Non-essential administrative services will resume on Tuesday, Jan.
3, by phone, email, online and in-person.
Community centres and recreational programming
Vaughan
community centres will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 1. Community
centres will operate on holiday hours on Saturday Dec. 24, Monday, Dec. 26 and Saturday,
Dec. 31. Hours vary by location and can
be viewed on the Recreation Services ‘holidays’ webpage. Recreational
swimming, skating, sports and game rooms will be available during the holidays.
Schedules can be viewed online and pre-registration and pre-payment is
available one week in advance at vaughan.perfectmind.com.
December Break Camps for children ages four to 17 will run from Dec. 27 to 30 and Jan. 3 to 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at select community centres. For information, visit vaughan.ca/camps.
Winter recreation programs swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses start on Saturday, Jan. 14. For program and registration information visit vaughan.ca/recreation.
Over the holidays, you can still enjoy a fun exercise session at home with free full-length fitness classes (40- to 60-minutes long) available on the Recreation Services’ YouTube channel. For more information, visit vaughan.ca/recreation.
If you’re looking for some exercise and outdoor fun over the holidays, the City’s four outdoor rinks at Chancellor Community Centre, Dufferin Clark Community Centre, Father Ermanno Bulfon Community Centre and Vellore Village Community Centre will remain open throughout the December break, weather permitting. Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL)
All VPL branches will close
on Saturday, Dec. 24 at noon and will reopen Tuesday, Dec. 27. Branches will
also be closed on Saturday, Dec. 31 at noon and reopen Monday, Jan. 2. To view

Have fun at home with VPL! You can access many free digital items – including eBooks and audiobooks, films and television programs, music streaming services, e-learning courses, bilingual materials and more – any time through VPL at Home.
Waste collection
Waste collection will not be affected
over the holidays. Please have waste set out by 7 a.m. Remember, Christmas tree
collection takes place the weeks of Tuesday, Jan. 3 and Tuesday, Jan. 10 on
your regularly scheduled collection days. Double-up Days also take place the
same weeks, on your regular garbage collection day. For the complete curbside

While community centres are closed Sunday, Dec. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 1, you can still purchase blue boxes, green bins and garbage tags online and register to exchange broken City-issued bins online through Service Vaughan.

Vaughan Animal Services
Vaughan Animal Services remains available 24-7 for response to sick or injured
animals. The Animal Shelter located at 70 Tigi Crt. will be closed Dec. 25, 26,
30, Jan. 1 and 2. The shelter will be open to the public for adoption and pet
recovery services Dec. 27 to 29 and 31. You can purchase pet licensing tags
online any time through Service Vaughan. For

Service Vaughan
Service Vaughan will be open regular hours the week of Monday, Dec. 19 and on Wednesday,
Dec. 28 and Thursday, Dec. 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m, and will reopen with
regular hours on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 8:30 a.m. On the other days, there will
always be an agent to provide live answers to action municipal emergencies. If
calling to report a municipal emergency, please stay on the line to be
connected to the after-hours answering service.
