Whether you’re going away on vacation or just for the weekend, don’t forget about your home’s water pipes! When the temperature outside drops, pipes are more susceptible to freezing, leaking or bursting. The best way to prevent this from happening is by keeping them warm enough to stay above freezing.

When the weather forecast calls for wind, think about your blue box! On windy days, your recyclables can blow out onto sidewalks and roads if they are incorrectly placed in your blue box.

Update: the City of Vaughan’s Significant Weather Event has ended as of Friday, Feb. 17, 2023. 

The City declared a Significant Weather Event on Thursday, Feb. 16 based on a freezing rain warning issued by Environment Canada. This event has ended effective Friday, Feb. 17 at 3:45 p.m.

The City of Vaughan has declared a Significant Weather Event based on a freezing rain warning issued by Environment Canada. A period of freezing rain is anticipated to begin this evening and end early Friday morning.

It’s almost Family Day weekend, and although there will be some facility closures and alternate hours, there is still plenty of fun to be had around Vaughan! Here is all you need to know to plan ahead and spend some quality time with family, friends and loved ones on Monday, Feb. 20. 

The City of Vaughan’s right of way contains multiple utilities within municipal roadways. The city’s right of way is located within the area between the middle of the roadway and the residential water valve. This area will have several utilities, including gas, hydro, water and telecommunication cables. The City’s Utility department co-ordinates the installation of new utilities and addresses any concerns regarding telecommunication exposed cables, pedestals, cabinets and ground-level boxes.
