Councillor Marilyn Iafrate has made Vaughan her home for more than four decades. In addition to raising her family here, she has a long history of being an active participant in the community. She has been a strong advocate for protecting and improving the quality of life for everyone in our city.
Vaughan’s boundaries are Highway 50 to the west, King-Vaughan Road to the north, Steeles Avenue to the south and Yonge Street to the east. York Region is made up of nine municipalities: Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Markham, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Whitchurch-Stouffville. Regional Councillor Gino Rosati has lived in Vaughan for more than 35 years. He previously worked as a bank manager and participated in many local groups and charitable organizations.
The Mayor, elected by the citizens of Vaughan, is the head of Vaughan Council and is also a representative on York Region Council. Four Regional Councillors are elected to represent Vaughan at both the local and the regional levels of government.
Licensed taxis, limousines and ride-sharing providers are regulated to ensure they are clean, safe and well maintained. Both the driver and the vehicle must meet a list of eligibility criteria to certify they are operating in the interest of public health and safety, and to protect you – the passenger.
Short-term rentals are allowed in residential homes in Vaughan – that is the homeowner’s or tenant/lessee’s principal residence – provided that a licence is obtained. Short-term rentals are generally understood to be when individuals rent out their residence, or part of their residence, for short periods of time (not more than 29 consecutive nights) for a fee.
