issued the following statement after a candlelight vigil at City Hall honouring
victims of the Dec. 18 shooting at a Vaughan condominium building:
“I was shocked and horrified to learn about the unspeakable tragedy in our community, which claimed the lives of five people and left another in serious condition.
School is almost out for the holidays and so are students! While you may be driving around visiting loved
ones, drivers need to be extra vigilant on the roads as kids are out and about
enjoying fun winter activities. The City of Vaughan has many tips to ensure all
road users are kept safe.
The City’s Accidental Water Leak Adjustment Policy (PDF) provides one-time financial support for residents, residential tenants who are Alectra Utilities account holders and non-profit organizations who have experienced an unintentional water leak due to failed plumbing, such as a leaky toilet or faucet.
With the holiday season quickly approaching, the City of
Vaughan is reminding residents about facility closures, alternate hours and
changes in programming from Friday, Dec. 23, 2022 to Monday, Jan. 2, 2023.
The Regional
Municipality of York (York Region) is improving regional roads in the city of
Vaughan. To ensure a continued safe and reliable transportation network, York
Region is investing in Vaughan’s roads to accommodate population growth,
improve traffic flow, extend the life of roads and bridges, and enhance safety
for pedestrians and cyclists.
Boulevards that are adjacent to, or in front of privately owned properties are the responsibility of the landowner. Boulevard maintenance includes regular grass cutting and removal of debris and leaves.
