Did you know that you have a role to play during winter
operations as a resident of Vaughan? If you have a fire hydrant, sidewalk or catch
basin near your property, you are responsible for clearing them of snow and ice.
Winter is here and we are in the middle of another snowfall! To help everyone respond,
the City of Vaughan is reminding residents that snow does NOT belong on the
road. In fact, it’s against the law to place it there.
The City of Vaughan is
working around the clock to help keep the community safe. Winter efforts are in
full force as crews began a city-wide plowing, salting and windrow-clearing
operation on main public roads and sidewalks early this morning. Cleanup will
continue on secondary roads, sidewalks and City park paths this afternoon.
With more heavy and blowing snow on the way, the City of Vaughan’s crews are actively preparing City roads and sidewalks to help citizens travel safely through winter weather.
With snow in the forecast, the City of Vaughan’s winter crews
are on the job – no matter the size or scale! Learn everything you need to know
about the City’s winter operations during declared Significant Weather Events.
What is a Significant Weather Event?
The City of Vaughan
recognizes the importance of protecting citizens from the global COVID-19
pandemic while also continuing to move the city forward. Supporting this
direction, electronic participation for Committee of the Whole, Council and
task force meetings will continue this month.
