Vaughan City Hall Recognized with World-Class International Architecture Award

Vaughan City Hall has received the International Architecture Award for 2013 in recognition of its environmentally-responsible design and accessibility. The leading global award, from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, honours new architecture, interiors and urban planning.

​Recipients of the fifth annual Recognizing Arts Vaughan Excellence (RAVE) Awards were honoured at Vaughan Council on Oct. 29. Established in 2008, the RAVE Awards recognize the contributions made by individuals, businesses and organizations towards enhancing the visual, performing and literary arts in Vaughan.

City Hosts Third Annual Sports Congress at Vaughan City Hall

The City of Vaughan held its third annual Sports Congress at Vaughan City Hall on Oct. 23 to give community sports organizations an opportunity to provide feedback on local sports needs and to share best practices in managing their leagues.

Adult and minor sports organization administrators heard from a number of guest speakers at the session. Topics discussed included emergency management for sports teams, from severe weather to power outages, as well as minimizing risk in sport through identification, control and mitigation.

Site Dedication Ceremony for the Future Home of Vaughan Public Libraries New Resource Library

A special ceremony was held on Thursday, October 17 for the site dedication of the future home of Vaughan Public Libraries new resource library. The event took place on the northwest quadrant of the Civic Centre Campus which will be the location for Vaughan’s third resource library.

Mayor Bevilacqua Welcomes Mayor of Eilot, Israel After Successful Business Mission

Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua welcomed Udi Gat, the Mayor of Eilot, Israel to Vaughan City Hall yesterday. Mayor Gat is visiting Toronto with the United Jewish Appeal Federation (UJA) and his trip included a meeting in Vaughan.
 
His visit follows the City of Vaughan business mission to Israel which took place from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6. The mission included a stop in the Eilat/Eilot Region and a meeting with the mayor and representatives of the Renewable Energy Initiative.
