Drowning Prevention Week With Water Smart Activities

​During National Drowning Prevention Week, July 16 to 23, 2011, the City of Vaughan has organized a series of water smart activities at Garnet A. Williams Pool and Thornhill Outdoor Pool.

Water Smart Contest:
Monday, July 18 – Garnet A. Williams Pool, 501 Clark Avenue West, 1:30 – 4 p.m. Thornhill Outdoor Pool, 28 Centre Street, 2 – 7 p.m.

Vaughan Searches for Homes and Businesses with 'Curb Appeal'

Vaughan has launched its sixth annual Curb Appeal Program as part of the City’s “My Vaughan Blooms” initiative. The program is designed to recognize and thank homeowners and businesses who continue to beautify and maintain their properties.
 
During the months of July and August, volunteers from the community will search the City for homes and businesses with curb appeal. Properties will be selected that showcase pride of ownership and a “Curb Appeal” sign will be placed on the front lawn of selected properties.

Mayor's Gala Proceeds Support Community Organizations

Close to 1,000 guests joined Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua at the 2011 Mayor’s Gala, the City’s premier annual fundraising event. Proceeds will help support Vaughan’s not-for-profit and community organizations.
 
 
“There are many organizations in our community which do wonderful work in helping to support those in need,” said Mayor Bevilacqua.
