Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council were recently joined by residents to mark the official opening of Hillside Park.

​More than 300 residents and community group members joined Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council to celebrate the City of Vaughan’s sixth annual Peace Tree Day celebration at North Thornhill Community Centre on June 12. 

​On Thursday, June 16, 2011, the City of Vaughan will recognize older adult residents who participated in the New Horizons: Seniors Art Class.

​Vaughan residents are encouraged to sign up now to reduce the chance of their preferred summer day camps being filled. Camps start July 4, 2011, following the Canada Day long weekend.

​Vaughan residents recently joined Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council to cut the ribbon marking the official opening of Jack Pine Park, which features the City’s first outdoor fitness equipment area. 

June 6, 2011 Due to extreme temperatures, the City of Vaughan has announced the opening of a number of cooling centres across the City, effective June 8, 2011. The City is extending hours of operations for all community centres and splash pads in response to the hot weather.

​Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua has pledged that Vaughan residents will lose 100,000 pounds collectively as part of the CBC's Live Right Now initiative – a national program intended to motivate Canadians to unite and improve the health of the country. The Mayor's initiative was announced yesterday to kick off Parks and Recreation Month in June.

The City of Vaughan is partnering with Seeds For Change and York Region Food Network on a two-year community garden pilot project at Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service Station #7-1.
