O, Christmas tree, o, Christmas tree, how lovely are your branches! The City of Vaughan will be hosting its annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on Friday, Dec. 1 – and you’re invited!

Join Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council in the Courtyard outside Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.) at 7 p.m. as we get ready to deck the halls!

The free family-friendly celebration will include photos with Santa Claus, a performance by North Fire Circus, Doo Doo the Clown and the Chunky Monkeys, crafts, mural colouring and other interactive activities before the countdown to light up the tree.

This annual event brings more than just holiday cheer to Vaughan families, it is also a reminder of the true meaning behind the season – to give back. The City is accepting donations for its 14th Annual Toy Drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish until Monday, Dec. 11. Bring a new unwrapped toy for children aged newborn to 18 years old to help ensure everyone has a happy holiday this year. All donations will be directed to the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish, which supplies registered charitable organizations, social service agencies and community centres with new, unwrapped toys and financial donations throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

QUOTE

“Every year, residents from across our city and beyond look forward to the City of Vaughan’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. It’s become a beloved annual tradition, and I’m excited to see the familiar faces of friends, family and neighbours sharing in some holiday cheer. Gathering for this fun event is a beautiful reminder that our city is at its strongest when we come together in person and in spirit. So, bring your family, take a photo with jolly old Saint Nick and enjoy festive music as we celebrate the start of the holiday season!”
