With students back to school, it's a great time to prepare for upcoming P.A. Days and December Break. Get a jump on the season, and sign your kids up for their days off from school! Here are some highlights!

 

P.A. Day camps 

P.A. Day camps will run on Friday, Sept. 27, Monday, Oct. 21 and Friday, Nov. 15. Camps are available at select community centres and Vaughan Studios & Event Space for kids ages four to 14 years old. Here are a couple favourites:

 

Cartoon Computer Animation (for ages six to 11 years)

Dive into STEAM and the creative world of cartoon animation! Learn storyboarding, create short computer animated cartoons, television shows or movies, and develop logical thinking skills. Delivered in partnership with Kids Great Minds. This P.A. Day camp is available at:

  • Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.), on Friday, Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • North Thornhill Community Centre (300 Pleasant Ridge Ave.), on Monday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Rosemount Community Centre (1000 New Westminster Dr.), on Friday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

School's Out! (for ages seven to 12 years)

Enjoy a day of camp activities, including games, sports, arts and crafts, outdoor play and special events while making new friends! This P.A. Day camp is available at:

  • North Thornhill Community Centre (300 Pleasant Ridge Ave.), on Friday, Sept. 27, Monday, Oct. 21 and Friday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Chancellor Community Centre (350 Ansley Grove Rd.), on Friday, Sept. 27, Monday, Oct. 21 and Friday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Maple Community Centre (10190 Keele St.), on Friday, Sept. 27, Monday, Oct. 21 and Friday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
  • Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.), on Friday, Sept. 27, Monday, Oct. 21 and Friday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Paint Your Own Pottery (for ages three to 14 years)

Apply your unique artistic style with pottery paint and leave your finished creative gem with us. Afterwards, we will glaze and fire your pottery in a kiln. The completed masterpiece will be packaged and ready for pick-up the following week at your respective community centre. Delivered in partnership with Mess for Fun. 

  • Zoo Animals:Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.), on Friday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon
  • Halloween Mugs or BowlsMaple Community Centre (10190 Keele St.), on Monday, Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon 
  • Piggy Banks: North Thornhill Community Centre (300 Pleasant Ridge Ave.), on Friday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon 

 

December Break camps

Camps run daily at select community centres and Vaughan Studios & Event Space from Monday, Dec. 23 through Friday, Jan. 3, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with flexible drop-off and pickup available from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (except at Vaughan Studios & Event Space). On Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 31, camp ends at noon. Camps are not offered on Wednesday, Dec. 25, Thursday, Dec. 26 or Wednesday, Jan. 1. Choose from a wide variety of camps and programs – creative and culinary arts, sports, animation, aquatics and more! Here are a few highlights:

 

  • Let's Make Toys (for ages four to seven years)

Delivered in partnership with Engineering for Kids. Playing with toys is fun. Playing with toys you made is more fun! Use simple materials, innovation and your imagination to build and code a robotic toy or create a mechanical toy to take home. Learn about engineering, problem solving, energy and motion while making your very own toys. 

 

  • Winter Adventures: Junior and Senior (for ages four to six years and seven to 11 years)

Break out of the cold this holiday season with fun camp activities! Campers will enjoy arts and crafts, sports, games, outdoor recreational skating (weather permitting), special guests and much more!

 

  • For the Love of Art (for ages seven to 12 years)

Why choose between creative and performing arts when you can dance, do improv, paint and draw? For the love of art, don’t miss out on one creative day!

 

  • Kids a Cookin’ (for ages seven to 12 years)

Try your hand at making meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack time. Spend part of the day working in the kitchen, then have fun doing special events, creating arts and crafts, and playing sports and games. New recipes will be made each day. Bon appetit!
