Stormwater ponds are not for recreational use

Do you have a stormwater management pond in your community? This type of pond is not intended – or safe – for recreational use!

Stormwater ponds are designed to gather rainfall and surface water runoff and temporarily hold it before releasing it back into the environment at a controlled rate. Water constantly flows in and out of stormwater ponds, so the water levels are always changing, making any activity in or around them unsafe. When frozen, the thickness of the ice is highly unstable and unpredictable.

Please keep off the ice and stay a safe distance away from stormwater ponds.
