Vaughan’s Winterfest celebration returns with double the fun!

Join us on Feb. 1/2 at Vellore Village Community Centre

 

The City of Vaughan’s 35th annual award-winning Vaughan Celebrates Winterfest is back by popular demand! 

 

Presented by TD and event sponsor Tim Hortons, this event is expanding! New this year, it will take place over two days – Saturday, Feb. 1 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – at Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.). Be sure to dress for the weather!

 

Here are all the family-friendly activities you can look forward to:  

 

Saturday, Feb. 1

Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council will kick off this year’s event with an official welcome, followed by plenty of free stage entertainment for people of all ages to enjoy, including a singalong show with Frozen in Time and musical performances by local band Neel Dani. 

 

Additional outdoor activities on Saturday will include:

  • fire pits
  • food vendors
  • free midway rides
  • touch-a-truck
  • live ice carving display 

 

Sunday, Feb. 2

We’re just heating up! Fuel up for a full day of winter festivities starting with a free pancake breakfast from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., while quantities last. You can also take part in a free indoor swimming and lifeguard skill activity from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Not your speed? Then we invite you to sit back and enjoy a full day of free entertainment with:

  • emcee Joseph Motiki (known for Reach for the Top and Game Gurus)
  • dance performances by Dance Stream 
  • Disney music and storytelling showcase by Echos and Icons 
  • music performance by local band AV-OX
  • Taylor’s Story: A Tribute to Taylor Swift
  • free midway rides
  • meet and greet with the Care Bears 

 

Additional indoor and outdoor attractions on Sunday will include: 

  • animal demo/education session with Earth Rangers
  • candle making workshop
  • Engineering for Kids Workshop
  • fire pits and Muskoka chairs 
  • food trucks
  • giant games
  • giveaways
  • horse-drawn wagon rides
  • Mad Science Fun Station
  • roaming/strolling entertainers and performers
  • snowshoeing (weather dependent) and skating 
  • sports games
  • touch-a-truck
  • vendors

Parking and shuttle information

Shuttle buses will be running on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre area (200 Apple Mill Rd.), Emily Carr Secondary School (4901 Rutherford Rd.) and Vaughan City Hall (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.). 

 

Parking is also available at Fossil Hill Public School (2 Firenza Rd.) and St. Veronica Catholic Elementary School (171 Maria Antonia Rd.).

 

Accessible parking is available at St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic High School (2 Davos Rd.).

Are you a business or food vendor looking to participate in Winterfest? You can fill out a form online by Wednesday, Jan. 15 to apply to have a booth to promote your business or sell merchandise or food at this year’s event.
