The City of Vaughan’s archives house more than 600 collections dating from the early 1700s to the present day. Within these files are the stories of how Vaughan evolved from the traditional territories of the First Peoples of Turtle Island to the bustling city it has become.

The City of Vaughan is building the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) into a destination of choice. As the area continues to experience significant growth, plans are underway to guide its transformation into a downtown core with plenty of transportation connections, housing options, retail uses, public amenities and so much more. Our efforts include ensuring the VMC’s infrastructure – such as storm sewers, stormwater ponds and more – remain functional, effective and safe for the growing community.
Highlights from the 2023 Vaughan Business and Entrepreneurship Centre’s Year in Review
Of the more than 19,700 businesses in Vaughan, more than 87 per cent are small enterprises.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, producers of recyclable materials will be operationally and financially responsible for residential blue box collection programs across the province. This means producers will oversee the collecting, sorting and recycling of all blue box materials. The City of Vaughan will no longer collect blue box recycling as of Jan.
