Test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms TODAY

Did you know you should check your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms once a month? Today marks the first Test Your Smoke Alarm Day in Ontario, which has been proclaimed by the City of Vaughan.

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service is taking this opportunity to remind you to test your alarms to make sure they are in good working order in the event of an emergency.

Building Vaughan

City building doesn’t happen overnight. Well before construction begins, developments undergo a careful review by City of Vaughan staff, Vaughan Council, public agencies (such as the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, York Region and provincial ministries, where appropriate) … and you!

Public feedback is a vital part of the planning process and there are many ways to have a say before applications are approved.

PUBLIC MEETINGS

What you need to know about … Public Meetings!

Is there a new development proposed for your neighbourhood? Want to learn more about it and have your say before any decisions are made? It will be coming to a City of Vaughan Committee of the Whole Public Meeting where you can share your thoughts.

If this will be your first experience participating in a public meeting, here’s what you need to know:

Making Vaughan a destination of choice

With a mission to establish Vaughan as a premier tourism destination, the City of Vaughan’s Tourism Vaughan team undertakes key strategic projects that align with the Vaughan Destination Master Plan (VDMP). Through product development, marketing and education and strong collaboration with and in support of operators, the VDMP lays out a comprehensive plan for developing Vaughan’s tourism-related industry cluster.

Designing safer streets through Vaughan’s Complete Streets Guidelines

We have a plan to make Vaughan’s streets safer! Through the City of Vaughan’s Complete Streets Guidelines, a framework will be developed to better accommodate all road users, including people who walk, bike, take public transit or drive. It will also help guide the planning, design, operation and maintenance of the City’s street network to create safer and more enjoyable spaces for all who travel through Vaughan.
