Tips to beat the heat
An Environment Canada heat warning is in effect for Vaughan – and extreme temperatures can be dangerous for everyone, especially outdoor workers, older adults, some people living with disabilities and children, particularly infants.
Here are some tips from the City of Vaughan to beat the heat:
If you feel dizzy, weak or overheated:
Participate in Curbside Giveaway Days on June 22 and June 23!
Do you have gently used clothing, sports equipment, books and kitchen gadgets lying around? Skip throwing them in the garbage and give them a second life – these items and more can be placed at the curb for others to take, free of charge, as part of the City of Vaughan’s Curbside Giveaway Days program!
Don’t leave your mail on the ground – take it home!
Who doesn’t love getting something in the mail – from wedding invitations and birthday cards to letters from pen pals and packages. But not everything we receive at our community mailbox is necessarily what we are looking for – like flyers and admail. Bring any unwanted mail items home with you for recycling, don’t leave them on the ground. Remember, littering is against the law, and you may be subject to a fine of at least $500.
