Why are there more watermain breaks in the winter?

Do you ever wonder how you get your water supply? It’s from watermains, which are underground pipes that are a part of the City-owned local water distribution system and deliver safe and clean drinking water to Vaughan residents and businesses. But sometimes – most commonly in the winter – watermains break.

During tonight’s Special Council Meeting, the City of Vaughan approved its 2023 Budget and 2024 to 2026 Financial Plan, reflecting the continued commitment to keep property tax rates low, respect taxpayers’ money and deliver quality public services that residents, businesses and visitors rely on each day.    

Maple/GO Secondary Plan

The City of Vaughan has received an application for the approval of a Secondary Plan in the Maple Community.  The Maple GO Station Secondary Plan area is located on the south side of McNaughton Road East, west of Troon Avenue, north of Hill Street, and east of the existing Maple GO Station.  The lands subject to the Secondary Plan have an area of 8.120ha.  The surrounding area will also be examined to ensure appropriate relationships are established and for compatibility between the proposed and existing

Kipling Avenue and Highway 7 Study

The City has initiated the Kipling Avenue and Highway 7 Study for the northeast quadrant of the Highway 7 and Kipling Avenue intersection. The study area is approximately 2.42 hectares, bounded by Highway 7 to the south, Kipling Avenue to the west, Burwick Avenue to the north, and the property boundary of the existing Woodbridge Public Elementary School to the east, as shown on the study area map below.

 

Dufferin Street and Centre Street Intersection Study

On April 23, 2013 Vaughan Council directed that a Study be initiated for the subject lands. The study will consider the appropriate land uses, heights and densities and urban design objectives for the area for the purpose of preparing Official Plan policies to guide the future development or redevelopment of the area, for consideration by Council.
