Canada Day is fast approaching. Although celebrations will look a little different this year, the City of Vaughan is reminding citizens to be smart and protect themselves – remain vigilant, follow physical distancing measures and exercise caution around fireworks.
Citizens are
invited to attend the City of Vaughan’s first-ever virtual Public Information
Session on Thursday, July 9 at 7 p.m. to learn more about the Carrville
Community Centre, Library and District Park project and give feedback on the proposed
design option from the safety of their homes.
The Honourable Jean Augustine is a passionate educator, life-long public servant and a national trailblazer, Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua said today. Mayor Bevilacqua made the comments following his announcement that Ms. Augustine, Canada’s first female African Canadian Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister, will be bestowed with the Key to the City.
The City of Vaughan is launching a Medical Waste Exemption program to help residents who generate additional non-recyclable waste as a result of a medical condition. This new program, which excludes personal protective equipment (PPE), will provide eligible residents with 20 additional garbage tags per year at no cost.
Wedding bells will be ringing! The City of Vaughan is now offering curbside marriage licences to couples looking to tie the knot. While the global COVID-19 pandemic persists, licences will be issued by appointment only and available for curbside pickup at Vaughan City Hall.
City’s Canada Day Celebration kicks off at 5 p.m. on July 1
The City of Vaughan’s first-ever virtual Canada Day celebration, presented by Greenpark Group, will be taking place in “One Week” on Wednesday, July 1. The decision to host an online event this year allows residents and viewers to mark this popular and much-anticipated event safely from the comfort of their homes. Headlining this year’s festivities is the JUNO award-winning and Grammy-nominated group Barenaked Ladies.
Just in time for the first full weekend of summer, the City of Vaughan is opening additional park facilities, including splashpads and public washrooms. This is the latest announcement as the City continues its disciplined, responsible and measured approach to decision-making about reopening facilities and programs in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
