Jumpstart Spring with Seedy Saturday at Vaughan City Hall

The City of Vaughan is hosting the first Seedy Saturday event in Vaughan at City Hall on Saturday, March 2.

Seedy Saturday is an opportunity to jumpstart the growing season by exchanging seeds and sharing gardening advice. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Vaughan City Hall, 2141 Major Mackenzie Drive, and brings together garden enthusiasts to buy, sell and trade planting seeds including vegetables, herbs, flowers and native species.

Trip to Philippines Supports Vaughan's Friendship with Baguio City

Deputy Mayor and Regional Councillor Gino Rosati and Ward 1 Councillor Marilyn Iafrate will travel to Baguio City, Philippines, February 23 and 24 to celebrate the Flower Festival known as the ‘Panagbenga’ – the Season of Blooming. The City of Vaughan received an official invitation from Baguio City’s Mayor to attend the festival and help commemorate the 15th anniversary of the twinning of Vaughan and Baguio City. The City of Vaughan and Baguio City are Friendship Cities, a partnership established to promote social, cultural and educational exchanges.

Recipients of 2013 Vaughan Heritage Preservation Awards Recognized at Council

Recipients of the 2013 Vaughan Heritage Preservation Awards were recognized at a Council meeting on February 19 for their contributions to the restoration and conservation of Vaughan buildings and properties of cultural heritage value. These projects support the City’s commitment to maintaining its historic streetscapes and unique architectural heritage.  

Registration for Spring and Summer Programs Set to Begin

Registration for Vaughan summer day camps starts next week, with enrolment for general programs and swimming courses beginning later this month.

Summer day camps                           February 20 and 21 (refer to camp location)

General programs:                              February 22

Free Family Activities at Vaughan Community Centres this Holiday Monday

Free Family Day drop-in activities will be offered at participating City of Vaughan recreation facilities on the Family Day holiday, Monday, February 18, in addition to the  regularly scheduled recreation programs and lessons.

The Maple Community Centre is featuring: badminton, basketball, futsal, soccer and glow-in-the-dark bowling at the recently renovated bowling alley.
