Vaughan celebrates the Festival of Lights!

Residents joined Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council this evening for the City of Vaughan’s second annual Festival of Lights celebration at Vaughan City Hall.

The event featured official remarks from Mayor Del Duca, an interactive DJ and dance entertainment, an illumination, free activities and hot chocolate.

The fun doesn’t end here! Residents and businesses in Vaughan are invited to nominate themselves, a neighbour or a business whose lights shine bright through the Festive Lights program, which recognizes those who go above and beyond to decorate their homes and properties with exceptional pride in their light displays. The program provides an opportunity for residents to celebrate each other’s cultures and Vaughan’s diversity.

Email nominations to festivecelebrations@vaughan.ca by Saturday, Feb. 1, and include the property owner’s name, address and photos of their festive lights. Entries will be scored based on the following criteria:

  • Design incorporates the use of energy-efficient lights.
  • Overall esthetic of the property is visually appealing.
  • Property uses lights and decorations.
  • Property shows creativity in design.
  • Property is well maintained.

Those selected will be contacted to pick up a Festive Lights sign at their local community centre to display on their front lawn or window.
