Keep our streets safe on Halloween!
Watch for trick-or-treaters and #SlowDownVaughan
What are your plans for Halloween night? If you’re heading out, be mindful that streets will be very busy with children in costumes and their parents or guardians going house to house for candy!
So whether you’re driving, walking or wheeling, follow these tips to ensure all trick-or-treaters have a safe and fun night:
Adjudicative Services
Hearings under the Administrative Monetary Penalty System (AMPS)
If you have disputed a violation of a Designated City By-law with a Screening Officer and are unsatisfied with the decision, you can request a review before a Hearing Officer within the prescribed deadlines. Hearing Officers have the authority to review, affirm, vary, or cancel the Screening Officer’s decision and extend time based on the merits of each case and applicable by-laws. The decision of the Hearing Officer is final and cannot be appealed further.
Building Vaughan
Vaughan is a city in demand. And as one of the fastest-growing cities in Canada, it continues to evolve. But city building doesn’t happen overnight. Well before construction begins, developments undergo a careful review by City of Vaughan staff, Vaughan Council, public agencies (such as the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, York Region and provincial ministries, where appropriate) … and you!
Public feedback is a vital part of the planning process and there are many ways to have a say before a decision is made.
Think before you flush
Protect wastewater pipes from blockages
Just because something can be flushed down the toilet without clogging the bowl doesn’t mean it should be. The City of Vaughan’s sanitary sewer system is not designed to dispose of anything beyond your ‘personal business,’ toilet paper and wastewater. Flushing any other materials down your drains can cause damage or plumbing blockages, which can be costly to clean and repair.
Taking steps to reduce speeding
Vaughan launches Automated Speed Enforcement program
Road safety continues to be a leading priority for the City of Vaughan – and we’re taking many steps to reduce speeding in our community. The latest launched today – Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE)!
