Mayor Steven Del Duca issued the following statement today after the Province of Ontario announced a $20-million investment to help build new homes in Vaughan:

“I welcome today’s announcement that the Province of Ontario is investing $20 million in Vaughan from the Housing-Enabling Core Servicing Stream under the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program. This funding will help build more than 14,000 new homes in our city to support Vaughan’s growing population and meet housing demands.

After a wintry day, you may have snowbanks piled up on either side of your driveway, which could leave you wondering where to place your bins and bags curbside. Don’t worry – we have all the tips to help make sure your waste collection days are a breeze this season!

Setting out waste in the winter

Do you have a stormwater management pond in your neighbourhood? Vaughan is home to more than 150 of these human-made ponds, which are designed to temporarily hold water before releasing it back into the environment at a controlled rate. While they are nice to look at on a winter walk, they are not intended – or safe – for recreational use!

As part of our ongoing commitment to protecting our most vulnerable road users, the City is assessing whether speed limits should be reduced in Community Safety Zones (CSZ), which include all school zones in Vaughan – and we want your input!
