Vaughan launches Israel International Business Development Program

More than 200 members of the local business community attended the launch of the City of Vaughan’s Israel International Business Development Program at City Hall on June 27.
 
The event featured special addresses by Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and DJ Schneeweiss, the Consul General of Israel in Toronto. There also was an information session about the business development program.
 
A key component of the program is a business mission to Israel from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6, 2013.

First Bike Lanes on Vaughan Streets will Support Active Transportation

The City of Vaughan will be installing the first dedicated bike lanes on city roads, taking an important step in Vaughan becoming a more cycle-friendly community.

The bikes lanes will run along Napa Valley Avenue near Islington Avenue and Rutherford Road, and on Peter Rupert Avenue, Confederation Parkway, Staffern Drive and North Rivermede Road just west of Dufferin Street and Rutherford Road.

Vaughan Announces Cooling Centres in Response to Extreme Heat

The City of Vaughan has extended hours of operations at a number of community centres and splash pads in response to the extreme heat.
 
Effective June 24, community centre hours have been extended to 11 p.m. at five facilities across the City. Community centres are air conditioned and are equipped with water fountains. Some splash pads will be open until 11 p.m.

Action on Audit Report Prepares Vaughan for Future Projects

How the City of Vaughan manages major capital projects has been significantly improved by implementing all the recommendations of a third-party construction audit of its new City Hall. Each recommendation has been incorporated into new processes and procedures that will immediately be implemented in major projects scheduled over the next 12 months, including the Civic Centre Resource Library, the North Thornhill Library and the North Maple Park.
