Rainbow Creek Park
Stormwater management facility improvements coming
Five stormwater management facilities within Rainbow Creek Park (5450 Highway 7) are being improved later this year – do you know why this infrastructure is so important? Want to learn more about the planned work?

How do you use Sports Village Park?
If you use Sports Village Park – get involved! The City of Vaughan is conducting a study to better understand how you and your neighbours currently use the park, how you’d like to use it in the future and what new amenities you’d like to see there.
Your input will help guide any future enhancements to the park!
Stormwater ponds are keeping it green
Every year, the City of Vaughan does maintenance work at more than 150 stormwater management ponds across the community.
From May to October, we complete three rounds of litter pickup and grass cutting to ensure staff have access to each pond for operational purposes. But you may notice some greenery is left alone. Here’s why:
Cool off at the outdoor pool or your local splashpad
As Environment Canada’s heat warning for Vaughan continues, you may be looking for ways to cool down. Why not head to one of the City of Vaughan’s splashpads or the Thornhill Outdoor Pool!

Consumer protection
All renovators, fence installers, pavers, landscapers, pool installers and snowplow contractors must be licensed by the City. Through licensing, the City can better ensure businesses comply with all City by-laws intended to uphold public health and safety, consumer protection and nuisance control.
Tips to stay safe during extreme heat
An Environment Canada heat warning is in effect for Vaughan – and extreme temperatures can be dangerous for everyone, especially outdoor workers, older adults, some people living with disabilities and children, particularly infants.
Vaughan has ‘Star Power’
Tributes to Sade, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston and George Michael at Concerts in the Park on July 12
The City of Vaughan’s 29th annual Vaughan Celebrates Concerts in the Park series presented by TD and event sponsor Tim Hortons is well underway! This free event takes place throughout the summer.
Remove leaves and other debris from catch basins
When it rains, keep an eye on the drains! That is, the stormwater drains located in the road – also known as catch basins. Catch basins ensure rainwater makes its way back into ponds, streams and lakes. But if a catch basin is blocked or covered by leaves or other debris, rainwater can pool and cause street flooding.
You can help ensure this doesn’t happen!
The resident living closest to a catch basin is encouraged to help clear it, if it’s safe to do so – especially before or during heavy rainfall.
Splashpad at Melville Park closed until further notice
The City of Vaughan has closed the splashpad at Melville Park (201 Melville Ave.) until further notice for necessary repairs.
But don’t worry! There are still 19 other locations you can cool off at this long weekend. All locations are open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., subject to weather and surface conditions.
