Site Dedication Ceremony for the Future Home of Vaughan Public Libraries New Resource Library

A special ceremony was held on Thursday, October 17 for the site dedication of the future home of Vaughan Public Libraries new resource library. The event took place on the northwest quadrant of the Civic Centre Campus which will be the location for Vaughan’s third resource library.

Mayor Bevilacqua Welcomes Mayor of Eilot, Israel After Successful Business Mission

Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua welcomed Udi Gat, the Mayor of Eilot, Israel to Vaughan City Hall yesterday. Mayor Gat is visiting Toronto with the United Jewish Appeal Federation (UJA) and his trip included a meeting in Vaughan.
 
His visit follows the City of Vaughan business mission to Israel which took place from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6. The mission included a stop in the Eilat/Eilot Region and a meeting with the mayor and representatives of the Renewable Energy Initiative.

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service Provides Kitchen Safety Tips for Fire Prevention Week

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service, in collaboration with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), is spreading the word about kitchen safety for Fire Prevention Week, which runs from Oct. 6 to 12.

The annual public safety and education campaign is aimed at raising awareness in the community about fire safety and prevention. This year’s theme “prevent kitchen fires” is focused on encouraging residents to take extra precautions when cooking. Kitchen fires are the number one cause of residential fires in Ontario.

Vaughan Turns Forensic Audit Over to Police

Today the City of Vaughan has turned the results of a recently conducted forensic audit over to York Regional Police. 

An external forensic auditor was retained in June, at City Council’s direction, to investigate suspected fraudulent activities involving a former employee in the Engineering and Public Works Commission, as well as several external vendors. The City immediately turned over the results of the forensic audit to police for further investigation.
