What wipes (and other unflushables) do to pipes

​Clogged sewage pipes? Not a pretty picture. Residents may not be aware that there are many things that should not be flushed down the toilet and the consequences of doing so. The City of Vaughan’s sanitary sewer system is designed to dispose of human waste, toilet paper and wastewater only. Flushing anything else may cause damage to household plumbing.

Vaughan launches new wildlife response service

The City of Vaughan has expanded its animal services to include an in-house response for sick or injured wild animals. Beginning today, animal control officers will be available to attend to calls 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.
 
Existing animal services for domestic dogs and cats also will be enhanced with expanded hours of operation. Healthy wild animals that cause a nuisance are not covered under this service.

The Civic Holiday being celebrated on Monday, Aug. 1 this year is known by many names as some cities and provinces have chosen to celebrate historically significant individuals or organizations to create meaning around the day. In Vaughan, the Civic Holiday is a commemoration of Benjamin Vaughan, a British diplomat and the City’s namesake.

Potential Canada Post service disruption

The City of Vaughan would like to notify residents that all incoming and outgoing mail will be affected in the event of a labour disruption involving Canada Post.
 
The City encourages residents who use the postal system to consider in-person or alternate methods to pay their bills to ensure that payments are received by the due dates.
