Vaughan Sets New Record Raising Funds for United Way of York Region
The City of Vaughan has presented a record-breaking cheque to the United Way of York Region. In a special presentation at this week’s Council meeting, Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council presented a cheque to Daniele Zanotti, Chief Executive Officer of the United Way in the amount of $73,136.38.
In addition, the Mayor has made a commitment to donate a further $15,000 from the money raised this year at the Mayor’s Gala and the Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua Annual Charity Golf Classic. Another $1,030 was raised by the Pierre Berton Resources Library.
Vaughan Recognized as Leader for Implementing Local System to Resolve Parking Ticket Disputes
The City of Vaughan has been cited as a leading example of a municipality implementing a local system for residents to appeal provincial parking and licensing offences by the Law Commission of Ontario. In its recent Modernization of the Provincial Offences Act report, the Commission recommends the wider use of Administrative Monetary Penalties, noting that Vaughan is one of only two municipalities to implement such a system for enforcing parking by-laws.
