Vaughan Receives Two International Economic Development Awards

​The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) has chosen two City of Vaughan publications as winners of its 2011 Excellence in Economic Development Awards. Vaughan e-Business Link placed first in the category of newsletter/newspaper and, Vaughan Building a Gateway to Tomorrow’s Economy won in the category of special purpose brochure.

Vaughan Design Review Panel a First in York Region

Vaughan Council has approved a new Design Review Panel pilot project whose members will provide professional recommendations to the City on proposed high density development projects in Vaughan. The City of Vaughan is the first to establish such a Panel in York Region.
 
“Design excellence will play a key role in meeting future challenges for development and intensification in Vaughan, and will serve as a basis for creating a more livable and beautiful city,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua.

Scale Models of New Subway Stations on Display at Vaughan City Hall

Architectural models of two subway stations to be built in Vaughan as part of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE) are on display at Vaughan City Hall. Scale models of Highway 407 Station and the Station at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, along with information posters, are available for viewing until the end of October.

Curb Appeal Winners Recognized By Council

Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council recently recognized 20 Curb Appeal winners for their efforts in helping to beautify the City. The Curb Appeal program features residents and businesses that take pride in beautifying and maintaining their properties.
 
“Our Curb Appeal ceremony was held to thank the recipients for their dedication, pride and hard work in creating some wonderful landscapes in their neighbourhoods,” said Mayor Bevilacqua.

Vaughan Creates More Green Space - Official Opening Of Twelve Oaks Park

The City’s newest green space – Twelve Oaks Park – was officially opened yesterday as Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, Members of Council and residents took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
 
“This new park provides great recreational facilities and contributes to the vitality and growth in our community,” said Mayor Bevilacqua. “The creation of this park adds to our quality of life and local community spirit.
