Spring is in full bloom, which means you may have already started your seasonal cleaning. The City of Vaughan is encouraging you to keep your spring clean ‘green’ by disposing of your waste items in the correct places.
Here are examples of common household items that go in the blue box:
Protect your pipes by putting fats, oils and grease in the green bin
While you may be cooking up a storm this holiday weekend, keep in mind that fats, oils and grease, such as butter, olive oil, gravy and meat fat, clog pipes. That’s why you should never pour these substances down the drain or toilet. They belong in the green bin!
Keep a safe distance from wild animals and their dens or nests
It’s pup season, which means you may see more young coyotes in the community. Although you may be tempted to approach them out of curiosity or to take a picture, the City of Vaughan is reminding everyone to keep a safe distance from urban wildlife and their habitats.
Put waste in its place to keep Vaughan clean
Spring is finally here! Although the warm weather brings a smile to our faces, the melted snow can reveal something we don’t like – litter.
Book today to keep your pet safe and healthy
Vaughan Animal Services (VAS) is dedicated to creating a safe community for pets and their owners – which includes offering microchipping services and rabies vaccines. On Sunday, April 23, you’re invited to bring your pets to a microchip and rabies clinic at the Vaughan Animal Shelter (located at 70 Tigi Crt., Unit 47) from noon to 6 p.m. Call the City of Vaughan at 905-832-2281 to book an appointment. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
