City of Vaughan Donates Furniture

Local charities and community service organizations recently participated in a donation event of surplus furniture from the old Vaughan Civic Centre on Major Mackenzie Drive.
 
“I am extremely pleased that we are able to make this donation to our community on behalf of the City of Vaughan,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “We have so many organizations which do wonderful work in delivering essential services to those in need.

Vaughan Participates in Trade Mission to Italy to Promote International Business

The City of Vaughan is participating in the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario (ICCO) Trade Mission to Italy to explore new business opportunities in the Clean Technology and Green Technology sectors and increase the City’s international profile.
 
“Our goal is to make Vaughan a world-class city and increase our presence on the international stage,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “Building and maintaining strong business relations is vital for Vaughan to sustain a competitive advantage in today’s global economy.

You're Invited to an Entertainment District and Casino Information Session

On Thursday, September 13, 2012, the City of Vaughan will host an Entertainment District and Casino Information Session for residents and businesses at the Hotel Novotel Vaughan, Concord Room, 200 Bass Pro Mills Drive, from 7 – 9 p.m.
 
The public information session will focus on the expansion of gaming in Ontario and the opportunities for the GTA.
Presentations will be made by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG)

Vaughan Attempts Repeat as BMO Soccer Team of the Week Champion

​Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua is appealing to Vaughan residents to vote online for a local soccer team in their bid to become BMO Team of the Week 2012 Champion. 

The Kleinburg Nobleton Soccer Club Boys 2000 Lions are among 15 finalists vying to be crowned BMO champion. The team with the most votes will receive the Grand Prize of $125,000 toward a community soccer field renovation, and a team trip to watch either a Canadian Major League Soccer or Canadian National Team home match. 

New Fall & Winter Recreation Guide Delivered This Weekend

The City of Vaughan’s 2012/2013 Fall & Winter Recreation Guide will be delivered to Vaughan homes by July 31, along with City Playhouse Theatre, Culture Days and Doors Open Vaughan brochures.

 The award-winning guide received the 2012 Parks and Recreation Ontario Award for Innovation. It features leisure opportunities for all ages and abilities, including education, language, science, technology, culinary classes, creative and performing arts, health and wellness, sports, swimming and skating.
