Multi-Residential Recycling
Set-out requirements
- Recycling is collected every Thursday for front-end wheeled bins and every Friday for carts.
- Recycling material must be placed out for collection no later than 7 a.m. on collection day.
- Recyclable materials all mixed together in 96-gallon blue recycling carts or front-end wheeled bins (three to eight cubic yard capacity).
- Items must be placed at the designated collection area approved by the City.
Owner's Responsibilities
Legislative Requirements - Mandatory Recycling
Ontario Regulation 103 / 94 of the Environmental Protection Act states, in part, that "The Owner of the building that contains six or more dwelling units shall implement a source separation program for the waste generated at the building". This means that recycling in multi-residential buildings is mandatory.
Multi-Residential Organics
Set-out requirements
- Organic waste is collected every Friday.
- Organic materials must be bagged and bins/carts must be placed at the designated collection area approved by the City by 7 a.m. on collection day.
Multi-Residential Garbage
Set-out requirements
- Garbage is collected once per week, on Tuesday or Friday and must be set out no later than 7 a.m. on collection day.
- Only front-end wheeled bins (three to eight cubic yard capacity) in good condition, can be used to collect garbage.
Garbage responsibilities for residents
- Place all waste materials that do not belong in the recycling or organics into a plastic bag.

Christmas Tree Collection
Annual Collection
The City of Vaughan has specific Christmas tree collection days that are marked on the annual collection schedule. 2022 dates start the week of Jan. 4 and Jan. 11.
