Vaughan Celebrates Artistic and Culinary Skills of its Seniors

The City of Vaughan celebrated the talents of its New Horizons for Seniors Art and Cultural Cooking Program participants with an exhibition of their artwork and cuisine at Vaughan City Hall on Thursday, June 6. Festivities included a sampling of South Asian, Italian and Chinese inspired dishes, as well as acrylic, oil, pastel and ink drawing media displays.

Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council joined the Filipino Canadian Association of Vaughan and special guests at a flag-raising ceremony to mark Sunday, June 9 as Filipino Day and to commemorate the 115th anniversary of Philippine Independence Day.

Standard low-rise residential sprinkler system a first in Ontario

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service, in collaboration with Townwood Homes and The Co-operators, is pleased to be part of a “first in Ontario” low-rise residential sprinkler system announcement. Townwood Homes announced at an event today the implementation of two groundbreaking public safety initiatives as standard inclusions at its Mackenzie Ridge Terraces: garage heat detectors and fire sprinklers in all the homes.

Vaughan Celebrates Recreation and Parks Month with Free Activities

The City of Vaughan is offering complimentary drop-in leisure activities at community centres and parks across Vaughan from June 1 to 30 in support of the provincial Recreation and Parks Month.

New this year is a 30-day fitness challenge encouraging residents to stay physically active throughout the month and track their activities for a chance to win prizes.
