Vaughan Receives Grant Enhancing Emergency Preparedness And Response Capabilities

​The City of Vaughan recently received a grant from Public Safety Canada’s Joint Emergency Preparedness Program (JEPP) to cover up to 45 per cent of the cost of computers and printers for the City’s Emergency Operations Centre.
 
“This illustrates how different levels of government can work together to establish a high level of emergency preparedness and enhance emergency response capabilities across Canada,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “This investment will reduce injuries and property damage associated with an emergency and can ultimately save lives.”
 

Vaughan Showcases City To National Association Of Industrial And Office Professionals

The City of Vaughan hosted the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) annual 905 breakfast and bus tour yesterday. This was the first time that NAIOP, a leading organization of developers, owners and related professionals in the office, industrial and mixed-use real estate sector, paid a visit to Vaughan.

Fire Truck Pull and Barbecue Mark Official Launch Of Vaughan's 2011 United Way Campaign

City of Vaughan staff marked the official launch of its 2011 United Way campaign yesterday by taking part in a fire truck pull and fundraising barbecue. The fire truck pull included 22 teams and each were required to participate in an endurance race which involved pulling a fully-equipped fire truck – 48,500 pounds – over a distance of 50 feet.

​The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) has chosen two City of Vaughan publications as winners of its 2011 Excellence in Economic Development Awards. Vaughan e-Business Link placed first in the category of newsletter/newspaper and, Vaughan Building a Gateway to Tomorrow’s Economy won in the category of special purpose brochure.

Vaughan Design Review Panel a First in York Region

Vaughan Council has approved a new Design Review Panel pilot project whose members will provide professional recommendations to the City on proposed high density development projects in Vaughan. The City of Vaughan is the first to establish such a Panel in York Region.
 
“Design excellence will play a key role in meeting future challenges for development and intensification in Vaughan, and will serve as a basis for creating a more livable and beautiful city,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua.
