Salute to Soccer presents the Kick 4 Cancer Mayor’s Cup. This event will run from August 30th to September 1st at the Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ontario. This event is an open soccer tournament for women that will feature 16 teams from across the Greater Toronto Area. The goal of the Kick 4 Cancer Mayor’s Cup is to raise $80,000 for cancer research. The plan is to have the Mayor’s Cup tournament played across the country by 2015 when the Canadian Soccer Association hosts the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service Station Receives LEED Gold Certification
Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service Station 7-10 has received a LEED® gold certification from the Canada Green Building Council. The fire station opened in 2012 and serves the northeast area of the City.

Rayette Road now open to traffic

Rayette Road has reopened to traffic. Rayette Road was closed temporarily from 111 Rayette Rd. to the intersection of Rayette Road and Oster Lane due to a leaning hydro pole and low-hanging wires. The situation has been fixed.
Pietro Adamo Exhibition on Display at Vaughan City Hall
Luminous Vaughan: Paintings by Pietro Adamo, the first exhibition in a new annual Resident Artist Series, is now on display in the Vaughan City Hall Atrium Gallery at 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr. The exhibition is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. until Sept. 6.
