Vaughan Fire Station 7-10 Showcased as One of Ontario's Best Fire Halls

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service Station 7-10 continues to make a positive impact on the community.

A photo of the fire station, taken by a local firefighter, Stephen Rollich, was one of four winning entries in a recent photo contest showcasing Ontario’s best fire halls. As a result, a $500 donation will be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada in the name of Fire Station 7-10 on behalf of MasonryWorx, the Concord-based company which held the contest. 

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service Provides Kitchen Safety Tips for Fire Prevention Week

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service, in collaboration with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), is spreading the word about kitchen safety for Fire Prevention Week, which runs from Oct. 6 to 12.

The annual public safety and education campaign is aimed at raising awareness in the community about fire safety and prevention. This year’s theme “prevent kitchen fires” is focused on encouraging residents to take extra precautions when cooking. Kitchen fires are the number one cause of residential fires in Ontario.

City of Vaughan Thanksgiving Day Closures

Vaughan City Hall and the Joint Operations Centre will be closed on Oct. 14 for Thanksgiving Day.
 
Vaughan Public Libraries will be closed on Oct. 13 and Oct. 14 and will reopen during regular hours on Oct. 15.
 
All other City facilities, including community centres, swimming pools and Vaughan Animal Services, will be closed on Oct. 14 and reopen on Oct. 15.

Vaughan Turns Forensic Audit Over to Police

Today the City of Vaughan has turned the results of a recently conducted forensic audit over to York Regional Police. 

An external forensic auditor was retained in June, at City Council’s direction, to investigate suspected fraudulent activities involving a former employee in the Engineering and Public Works Commission, as well as several external vendors. The City immediately turned over the results of the forensic audit to police for further investigation. 

Vaughan and Centennial College to Jointly Open Trade Office in Israel

The City of Vaughan and Centennial College are joining forces to open a Trade Development Office in Israel. The announcement came on day four of a seven-day business mission to Israel which concluded on Oct. 6. The mission was centered in Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem and included 23 participants representing 21 different companies, including Centennial College.

Mayor Bevilacqua Takes the Vaughan Advantage to Israel

Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua met with the Mayor of the Eilot Regional Council and other key stakeholders during day three of a seven-day business mission in Israel that began on Sept. 28.
 
Over the course of the first two days, Vaughan delegates have toured through some of the most advanced solar and water energy projects in the world and met with more than 20 companies in pre-arranged one-on-one meetings, including PowerCom smart metering and Panago parking systems.
